Question 1:
What does it mean to you to be a woman?
To be a woman is to be multiple, to be resilient. It is the privilege of being able to show one’s sensitivity, one’s emotions and to know that this apparent weakness is a strength. Being a woman is the immense privilege and happiness of being able to carry a child. Whether we have had children or not, I firmly believe that knowing that we can give life is a powerful and deep engine that carries us further. These magnificent women’s friendships can also be so simple, obvious, deep, honest, without taboo, without calculation.
Question 2:
What is the most exciting project you have planned for this year?
My most important project this year is maybe the one that ends on March 6th: the focus exhibition ‘My roots in the sky’ that the glass museum of Charleroi dedicates to my work as a glass artist. I have been preparing an exhibition since spring 2021, in parallel with an artist residency at the museum, which allowed me to explore a photosensitive printing technique on glass. This important event in my ‘young’ career as an artist has brought profound changes and upheavals in all aspects of my life: personal and professional. It has brought me both greater confidence in my work as an artist and the importance it can have in the lives of others, but also slowly greater confidence in myself.
I say maybe because other artistic projects in collaboration with a childhood friend and with an artist whose work I admire are already taking shape and making me vibrate. In parallel, the desire to work with architects and interior designers to propose my blown glass wall installations and set up a long-term collaboration with a gallery is also in my mind.
Question 3:
If you had to pass on one piece of knowledge and/or advice to other women, what would it be?
Each of us has the power to reinvent our lives at any time, to change them completely. Life is infinite, let’s not put limits on ourselves…
