Metafolin® is a patented form of directly usable vitamin B9, also known as natural folic acid. In contrast, synthetic folic acid must be activated before it can be used by the body. The efficacy of this activation process differs from person to person, meaning that synthetic folic acid may not be adequately converted into biologically active folate by some individuals.
